Technology of Desh Bhagat University organized a State Level Workshop on
'Social Media for Journalists' in collaboration with Indian Media
Centre and Print Media Club, Mandi Gobindgar in the university campus.
Pro Vice Chancellor of Desh Bhagat
University Dr. Shalini Gupta said, that social media is the need of the
hour and it is an important platform for the youth to express their
views freely.
Speaking about
the impact of social media Mr. K.G. Suresh (National Secretary, Indian
Media Centre) said that social media is a new challenge in the field of
journalism but it does not pose any threat to the mainstream. On the
other hand it can prove to be a blessing for the print and electronic
media.
Addressing the
audience, the keynote speaker Mr. Ashok Malik (State Secretary, IMC) ,
said that social media is gaining international importance but along
with its fast increasing popularity, there should also be some check on
it.
Apart from the
important personalities , Sh. Arjun Sharma (Editor, Panchayatnama,
Jalandhar) , Dr. H.S. Lal (State President IMC), Sh. Saroj Parashar
(State General Secretary IMC), Sh. Rakesh Sharma (North Coordinator
IMC), Sh. Ram Chet Gaur (President Print Media Club, Mandi Gobindgarh)
participated in this workshop.
